New additions this week to the Cali-Folks Playlist are dominated by brand-new releases. First off is a new release by Huntington Beach’s Emily Brimlow off her Sugarshack Sessions album released last week. We’re choosing to highlight I Fall In Love Too Easily, a song that Brimlow first recorded in 2024 for her Burnt album. We think the new version really pops with new life.
Matthew Logan Vasquez, who calls Dana Point home, has a brand new album titled Sana Sana and we’ve chosen the first cut, Haunted, for inclusion. Also added this week is a new song from Duane Betts called Best Wishes. Duane is the son of legendary Allman Brothers guitarist Dickie Betts and still lives in Malibu when not touring. But he’s on the road pretty steady this summer…look for Duane Betts & Palmetto Motel at a venue near you.
The ever-fun guys of Water Tower have just released a cover of the Green Day classic When I Come Around with none of the slacker-punk angst. Our final addition this week is from the February album release, American Seams, from Rose’s Pawn Shop. The longtime LA-based alt-bluegrassers really killed it with this album and Going Out In The Wild is our favorite from the set.
